How is CantoBase different from My Music Staff? +
Different product, different audience. CantoBase is the passwordless-parent, set-up-in-an-afternoon studio tool for solo teachers and small studios (1 to 3 teachers). Parents never log in. You never touch a spreadsheet. If you run a 5+ teacher academy with group classes and need deep reporting, MMS is a more mature fit.
Do parents need to create an account? +
No. Parents access their portal through a shareable link — no login, no app download, no friction. They can see assignments, log practice time, and view their billing status instantly.
Can I try it before committing? +
Absolutely. Every account starts with a 30-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required to sign up.
What happens when the trial ends? +
If you haven't upgraded, your account drops to our Free safety net — your 2 most recent students stay accessible and parent-portal links keep working, so nothing gets deleted. You can upgrade to Starter ($15/mo) or Studio ($29/mo) whenever you're ready. We never take payment without your explicit go-ahead.
What happens to my data if I cancel? +
Your data stays available until the end of your billing period. After that, your account drops to the Free safety net (2 students accessible, portal links stay live, nothing deleted) and you can export everything or resubscribe any time. We never delete your student records without your explicit request.
Is my students' information secure? +
Yes. CantoBase runs on Convex (SOC 2 compliant infrastructure) with encrypted data in transit and at rest. Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe — we never see or store card numbers.
